Job summary

Icon Boiler is seeking a Level 2 Mechanic to independently perform boiler repair, installation, pipe fitting, welding, and steam-system work at customer sites. You will apply hands-on knowledge of boiler components and systems, ensuring quality and safety while communicating findings to project leadership.

The role includes mentoring Level 1 mechanics, reading drawings, and supporting advanced burner and controls troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Typically two or more years of boiler/industrial mechanical experience.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, pipe drawings, equipment manuals, and basic electrical diagrams.
• Welding qualification or ability to pass assigned welding tests under Icon Boiler's code program, when required for assigned duties.
• Working knowledge of trade math, measurements, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass required drug screening and establish U.S. employment eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Independently execute routine boiler-mechanical assignments in accordance with project scope, daily planning, safety requirements, company procedures, and applicable quality controls.
• Prepare boilers for inspection and perform routine removal, installation, alignment, fit-up, and repair of boilers, burners, pumps, feedwater equipment, valves, piping, and auxiliary equipment.
• Perform routine firetube and watertube re-tubing activities, including tube removal, tube-sheet preparation, tube installation, rolling, joint preparation, and hydrotest support.
• Maintain complete field records, service reports, material needs, and customer updates; elevate scope, schedule, quality, and safety concerns promptly.
• Mentor Level 1 mechanics and helpers with safe work practices, job setup, tool use, and foundational task development.
