Job summary

CyberCoders in Michigan is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to design, develop, and support industrial control and automation systems across manufacturing and process environments.

You will focus on PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, VFD configuration, and control-system integration while collaborating with operations, maintenance, and engineering to deliver scalable automation solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on industrial automation, PLC programming, and controls engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Controls or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience with PLC platforms (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens STEP 7/TIA Portal, Schneider).
• Strong HMI/SCADA development skills (FactoryTalk, Ignition, WinCC).
• Experience configuring VFDs and motor control for process/industrial use.
• Ability to read schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams; create BOMs.
• Excellent troubleshooting, FAT/SAT, and field commissioning experience.
• Good communication and willingness to travel to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, test, and commission PLC control systems to meet project requirements.
• Develop and maintain HMI/SCADA interfaces for clear operator control.
• Configure and tune VFDs and motor circuits for performance and energy efficiency.
• Prepare specs, wiring diagrams, schematics, and BOMs for projects.
• Provide tech support to maintenance and operations; diagnose field issues.
• Participate in planning, cost estimation, and scheduling with cross-functional teams.
• Apply control-system best practices, coding standards, and version control.
• Develop documentation and training for operators and maintenance.
