Job summary

Connectly Recruiting is seeking an Electrical Application Engineer to work at the intersection of engineering, sales, and product development. You will be the technical expert from concept through installation, commissioning and ongoing support, working with customers and internal teams in industrial settings.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, field deployments, and clear communication of complex technical concepts to both engineers and business leaders, with travel and field

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of technical field, applications engineering, or similar hands-on experience.
• Experience within oil & gas, mining, power generation, heavy industrial, or similar environments.
• Familiarity with sensor technologies, industrial monitoring systems, electronics, and network communications.
• Working knowledge of Modbus, 4–20mA, relay logic, and other common industrial protocols.
• Understanding of hazardous locations, classifications, and equipment ratings.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills; ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to translate complex technical information for customers and non-technical users; strong technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Develop deep expertise in the company's products, technologies, and applications across industrial markets.
• Partner with sales to understand customer requirements and recommend technical solutions.
• Translate customer needs into practical, manufacturable system and product solutions.
• Configure standard products and systems to meet application-specific requirements.
• Design customized solutions incorporating internal products and third-party technologies.
• Perform engineering calculations and technical analysis to support product selection and recommendations.
• Serve as primary technical contact for customers through sales and implementation.
• Clearly communicate product capabilities and system functionality to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Create application drawings, technical documentation, specifications, and training materials.
• Support system design, testing, verification, installation, programming, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Troubleshoot equipment and systems in field, over the phone, and via electronic support.
• Provide engineering training to customers, sales teams, and stakeholders.
• Test new and existing equipment to verify performance against specifications.
• Provide feedback to engineering on product performance and field issues.
• Participate in design and development of new products and improvements.
• Coordinate outside engineering resources as needed.
• Accompany sales on customer visits and participate in technical presentations.
• Support technical responses to RFIs and RFQs.
• Identify opportunities for future products or applications.
