Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an Operating Room Technician to support the OR Pharmacy satellite team at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.

You will assist licensed pharmacists with preparation and distribution of medications, ensuring patient safety and accurate labeling, while maintaining inventory control. This role operates primarily Monday–Friday, 4:30am–1:00pm, with a highly independent position within a smaller pharmacy team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must receive certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT) within 18 months from start date.

Responsibilities

• Assists licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately selects, prepares, and labels medications for patients including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assists with medication distribution tasks.
• Screens phone calls and routes as needed using proper telephone etiquette.
• Assists in daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Performs nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture where applicable.
• Seeks additional duties when required and may participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• May assist in training pharmacy technicians and extenders.
