Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Outpatient Pharmacy at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee. This full-time position (40 hours per week) involves dispensing medications, patient contact, and a busy phone line in a high-volume environment.

Preferred candidates have at least one year of retail experience, licensure in Wisconsin (or eligibility), and CPTB/ExCPT certification within two years. Comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Student; Certification (CPhT) issued by PTCB or ExCPT within two years of hire, or sooner if required by law.
• Must sit for the certification exam at least one time within the first year of employment.
• Patient facing teammates may be required to have two certifications: Immunization and non-vaccine injectable to be granted from the state of WI or if from out of state, the program is approved by the accreditation council for pharmacy education (ACPE) or by the WI pharmacy examining board.

Responsibilities

• Develops competence in dispensing and delivery of medications in a high-volume outpatient setting.
• Develops competence in entering medication orders in the computer system and processing medication requests.
• Develops competence in managing phone calls from customers and team members such as nurses, physicians or patients.
• Complies with legal, regulatory, accreditation standards related to pharmacy practice.
