Job summary

Gestalt Community Schools seeks a passionate Special Education/Interventionist teacher to join our K-12 charter system in Tennessee. You will create flexible learning environments, apply specialized instructional strategies, and support students with disabilities through inclusive practices and individualized programs.

Responsibilities include implementing multi-sensory instruction, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, maintaining records, and engaging with families to align IEP goals

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
• TN teaching license in Special Education or Interventionist with appropriate endorsement codes is required.
• Proven track record of academic success as evidenced by TVAAS, state assessments, and value-added data (preferred).
• Belief that all students can learn at high academic levels.
• Experience using digital content, technology integration, and project-based learning.
• Ability to work in an extended day environment.
• Ability to teach in an inclusion environment with a co-teacher.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Create a flexible program and learning environment for students with disabilities.
• Employ special educational strategies to develop sensory, language, cognition, and memory skills.
• Instruct students in academic subjects using multi-sensory techniques to meet diverse needs.
• Teach positive behavior supports and reinforce socially acceptable behavior.
• Modify curriculum for students with disabilities using varied instructional techniques.
• Plan and conduct activities with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
• Establish classroom rules and a conducive learning environment.
• Meet with parents to discuss progress and IEP priorities.
• Collaborate with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and other professionals to develop IEPs.
• Maintain accurate student records and required reports.
