Qualifications

• Holds a current TN teaching license in Special Education or Interventionist with endorsement codes.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Proven track record of academic success (TVAAS, state assessments, value add data) (Preferred).
• Holds belief that all students can learn at high academic levels.
• Uses digital content, technology integration, and project-based learning effectively.
• Ability to work in an extended day environment.
• Ability to teach in an inclusion environment with a co-teacher.
• Good communication and written skills.
• A team player with strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Employ special educational strategies and techniques during instruction to improve development of sensory and perceptual skills, language, cognition, and memory.
• Instruct students in academic subjects using varied techniques such as phonetics, multisensory learning, and repetition.
• Teach socially acceptable behavior following students' IEPs in a positive behavioral support framework.
• Modify curriculum for students with disabilities using diverse instructional techniques.
• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time.
• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and a conducive learning environment.
• Meet with parents to discuss progress and priorities for individualized needs.
• Collaborate with parents, admins, testing specialists, social workers, and others to develop IEPs.
• Maintain accurate student records and prepare required reports.
• Communicate clear objectives for lessons and projects to students.
• Develop plans for effective communication, monitoring, and follow-up in inclusive settings.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed for students and inclusive classrooms.
• Assist in data collection for classroom interventions.
• Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
• Assist in preparation of data for local, state, and federal reports.
• Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development and curriculum meetings.
• Fulfill compliance and reporting obligations for scholars and assigned location; perform related duties.
