Job summary

Gestalt Community Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education teacher for its Memphis-area program. The role focuses on creating flexible instructional environments and implementing specialized instruction for students with disabilities, in alignment with IEPs and district policies.

The teacher will employ diverse strategies including phonics, multisensory approaches, and data-driven planning to support student progress, behavior, and inclusion in regular classrooms.

Qualifications

• Holds a current TN teaching license in Special Education or Interventionist with appropriate endorsement codes (Required).
• Have a bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Proven track record of academic success as evident in TVAAS, state assessments, and value added data (Preferred).
• Hold the belief that all students can learn at high academic levels.
• Uses digital content, technology integration, and project-based learning in a highly proficient manner.

Responsibilities

• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conducive to learning for all students.
• Meet with parents to discuss their children's progress and determine priorities for their children and their IEPs.
• Confer with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and other professionals to develop IEPs.
• Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on children and activities as required by laws and district policies.
• Plan and deliver instruction using techniques such as phonics, multi-sensory learning, and repetition to meet diverse needs and interests.
