Job summary

Huntington High School in Shreveport, LA seeks a Classified Paraprofessional-Inclusion/Resource/Self-Contained to support teachers and students with disabilities across elementary or secondary settings.

The role includes implementing instructional plans, monitoring progress, assisting with IEPs, and supervising students in various areas. A high school diploma or higher, with additional credential requirements, is required.

Qualifications

• Must have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent and must meet one of the additional requirements below.
• Pass the teacher/paraprofessional assessment test with a score of 450 or higher
• Associate degree or higher (official transcripts are required)
• 48 hours of college with six hours of Math and nine hours of English (official transcripts are required).

Responsibilities

• Works with students with disabilities in all educational settings individually and/or groups to provide instructional support.
• Implements the instructional plan as developed with the classroom teacher as it pertains to the core curriculum.
• Monitors and adjusts the instructional plan based on student needs.
• Implements strategies and accommodations as developed with the classroom teacher as it pertains to the student’s Individual Education Program (IEP).
• Maintain a log/schedule providing support to students with disabilities within inclusive, resource and self-contained classrooms.
• Assists in supervision of study areas, cafeterias, halls, playground, field trips and bus loading areas.
• Performs non-complex health procedures and assists with health plans; assists in lifting and positioning students.
• Implements behavior supports and redirects students to stay on task.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information as it relates to FERPA.
