Job summary

Vertex is offering a 6-month In Silico Modeling Co-Op in Boston, designed for students pursuing an advanced degree in Computational Chemistry or related fields. You will work on meaningful projects, collaborating with teams and mentors to gain hands-on experience in analytical development.

The program runs January–July 2027, full-time at 40 hours per week, with a competitive hourly pay range. Applications close November 15, 2026, and Vertex notes rolling reviews and potential early closure.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with in silico modeling and structural prediction of proteins and antibodies.
• Experience with molecular dynamics simulation and understanding of protein-ligand and protein-protein interactions.
• Ability to adapt to a flexible working schedule.
• Excellent communication and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
• Familiar with modeling tools MOE, Maestro/Schrodinger, Desmond, GROMACS, NAMD/VMD.

Responsibilities

• Build workflows for protein structure prediction and contribute to structure-function understanding.
• Utilize molecular dynamics simulations to evaluate interactions and macroscopic properties.
• Leverage experimental data to refine models and workflows.
• Evaluate Vertex pipeline molecules with established workflows as needed.
• Report progress and write development protocols and reports.
• Maintain thorough lab notebooks and documentation.
