Job summary
Vertex is offering a 6-month Exploratory Chemistry Co-Op for students pursuing advanced degrees in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related fields. You will support small molecule studies, learn through collaboration with PD and PharmSci teams, and gain hands-on experience in formulation and data analysis in biologically relevant systems.
The role provides full-time, paid co-op work with competitive pay, on-site in Boston, and opportunities for mentorship, career development, and networking
Qualifications
- Senior, Master’s, PhD in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
- LC-MS familiarity required.
- Experience with small molecule interactions and organic chemistry.
- Ability to determine solubility and stability of small molecules.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize chemical reagents and mixtures for T1D small molecule studies.
- Support solubility and stability assessments with PharmSci and AD.
- Process LC-MS data to evaluate identity and degradation profiles.
- Document methods, observations and results clearly and reproducibly.
- Summarize findings and recommend optimization of workflows for the T1D program.
