Job summary

Ampact's Reading Corps program seeks Reading Tutors to help students become strong readers at local schools. You’ll be trained and coached throughout the role, delivering 20-minute sessions daily and guiding students back to class between pairs.

35 hours per week with daytime hours; AmeriCorps compensation includes a biweekly paycheck, health insurance, childcare assistance, and education benefits. Part-time roles at 20 hours also exist.

Qualifications

• Dependable with a history of good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and improve based on feedback.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (email and navigating online).
• Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
• Able to complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult focused on helping students thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software.
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
