Job summary

State Farm in Bloomington, IL is seeking a Counsel to advise on technology transactions within the Law Department's CC&T unit. This hybrid role requires strong drafting and negotiation of vendor agreements, including AI services and software contracts.

The attorney will partner with various business areas to allocate legal risk and deliver actionable, compliant guidance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Must have a Law Degree from an ABA accredited law school and excellent academic credentials.
Active law license to practice law in at least one state and a bar in good standing; IL limited license can be pursued.
If not licensed in IL, obtain an in-house limited license within 90 days and pursue licensure.
Attorney with 3+ years of transactional experience, preferably in technology.
Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to quality legal advice and collaborative teamwork.
Experience drafting/negotiating technology agreements preferred.
Experience counseling regulated industries or financial services preferred.
Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Advise on legal issues related to transactions for technology services.
Counsel Enterprise Technology Department and other business areas on vendor contracts.
Draft and negotiate technology agreements (AI, SaaS, PaaS, staff augmentation, outsourcing).
Serve as a strategic partner to manage risk allocation in vendor relationships.
