Job summary

JLL Technologies in Chicago seeks a Legal Counsel to shape how AI is used in contract review and negotiation, embedding in the business to advise on terms and governance while supporting a Fortune 200 platform.

You will join a robust legal team handling SaaS and technology agreements, venture investments, and responsible AI principles, driving faster processes without sacrificing risk management.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Meaningful experience negotiating commercial or technology contracts, at a law firm or in-house.
• Good judgment under real deal pressure and the honesty to say when something is outside your experience.
• Genuine curiosity about AI; able to experiment with AI tools and learn publicly.
• Self-direction; comfortable working without micromanagement.
• Comfort operating as a business partner in decision-making rooms.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and close customer agreements for SaaS and technology-enabled products, pursuing streamlined terms.
• Advise on AI-specific terms in vendor and customer contracts, including data rights and training rights.
• Help build guidance for using AI responsibly in contract review, drafting, and research.
• Maintain records of AI use-case reviews and governance decisions for future scrutiny.
• Provide product counsel across buy, build, and partner models as new products launch.
• Support JLL Spark on investments and related activities.
• Develop templates, playbooks, and AI-assisted workflows for the team to use.
• Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to promote AI tools usage and risk management.
