Job summary

State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company is seeking a Counsel to advise on technology transactions within the Corporate Counseling & Transactions Unit (CC&T). The role is based at our Bloomington, Illinois headquarters and classified as a hybrid position, requiring substantial time in the Bloomington office.

The attorney will handle vendor contracts addressing privacy, data security, IP ownership, and AI services, with extensive drafting and negotiation responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Must have a Law Degree from an ABA accredited law school.
• Active law license in at least one state with good standing; IL license or in-house limited IL license within 90 days.
• 3+ years of transactional experience in technology matters.
• Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience drafting and negotiating technology-related agreements preferred.
• Experience counseling highly regulated industries or financial services preferred.
• Eligible to work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants.

Responsibilities

• Advise on legal issues related to transactions for technology services; counsel Enterprise Technology Department and other areas on vendor contracts.
• Drafting and negotiating a range of technology agreements including AI services, SaaS, PaaS, and outsourcing.
• Serve as a strategic partner providing counseling on risk allocation in vendor relationships.
• Prioritize and manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
