Job summary

State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Chicago satellite office in the Corporate Law Litigation Section. You will shape discovery strategies, manage complex litigation risk, and collaborate across internal teams and with vendors.

The role emphasizes leadership in discovery processes, use of technology, and strategic guidance for privilege analyses, with a hybrid work model and opportunities to influence policy and practice.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with outstanding credentials.
• Active law license in at least one state and good standing.
• Ability to obtain in-house limited license in Illinois within 90 days.
• Strong discovery and motion practice experience; technology-enabled discovery.

Responsibilities

• Analyze legal matters and litigation strategies, including discovery.
• Drive discovery-related strategies, including interrogatories and depositions.
• Prepare company witnesses for depositions and testimony.
• Develop and negotiate eDiscovery protocols and related agreements.
• Implement defensible review processes with analytics and sampling.
