Job summary

Big Spring Center for Skilled Care in Texas seeks a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our in-house team servicing residents with person-centered care to improve swallowing and cognition and support communication.

The ideal candidate holds a Texas license in Speech-Language Pathology, with SNF/long-term care experience preferred, and a commitment to collaboration, resident education, and precise documentation.

Qualifications

• Active Texas license in Speech-Language Pathology.
• In good standing with licensing boards.
• SNF/Long term care experience preferred.
• Knowledge of current speech therapy practices.
• Familiarity with Net Health EHR preferred.
• Ability to adapt to diverse patient personalities.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate residents' swallowing or cognitive deficits.
• Help residents in goals to improve cognition or swallowing.
• Education for residents and caregivers.
• Provide skilled, medically necessary speech and language therapy assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide AAC systems for individuals with severe language disorders.
• Provide training to clients, family, caregivers, and other professionals.
• Coordinate diagnostic swallowing procedures as ordered by physician.
• Demonstrate competent technical skills per Speech Therapy standards.
• Communicate changes in resident's condition.
• Provide accurate and timely billing records and clinical documentation.
• Respond to family requests and concerns timely.
• Coordinate and provide training with Restorative Nursing and other care staff.
• Ensure no resident abuse or neglect occurs.
• Observe confidentiality and safeguards for patient information.
• Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements.
