First American seeks an Associate Operations Counsel to provide in-house legal support focused on mortgage servicing documentation and regulatory compliance. You will research and interpret federal/state laws, review and develop servicing documents, and partner with product, operations, and compliance teams to implement regulatory changes.

You will advise divisions, manage documentation projects, and ensure compliance with RESPA, TILA, and investor requirements.

Qualifications

  • Law degree is required.
  • Admitted to practice law in the US.
  • Typically 1–3 years of professional experience in the area of specialization.
  • Licensed to practice law, in good standing.
  • Direct experience with residential mortgage servicing regulations, compliance and documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Regulation X (RESPA), Regulation Z (TILA), and applicable federal/state mortgage servicing requirements.
  • Experience researching/reviewing/developing mortgage servicing documents, forms and borrower communications.
  • Familiarity with government agency and investor requirements affecting mortgage servicing.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate into practical documentation, systems or processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Responsabilités

  • Facilitate the Division objectives by providing timely legal support while minimizing exposure and risk.
  • Provide practical, timely legal counsel to divisions with focus on mortgage servicing documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Research and interpret federal/state mortgage servicing laws and investor requirements to ensure compliant documents and processes.
  • Review, develop, and maintain mortgage servicing documents and forms for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and evaluate their impact on documents, systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address servicing documentation questions and support product changes.
  • Research and resolve mortgage servicing questions in collaboration with clients' legal/compliance contacts.
