Job summary

First American seeks an Associate Operations Counsel to provide in‑house legal and regulatory guidance for mortgage servicing and origination. You will focus on servicing documents and investor requirements, drafting contracts and forms, and interpreting complex laws.

You will collaborate with operations, product, technology and compliance teams, monitor regulatory changes, and advise across divisions while maintaining strong research and communication.

Qualifications

• Law degree required and bar admission in good standing.
• 1–3 years of professional experience in mortgage servicing or related regulatory field.
• Knowledge of Regulation X and Regulation Z and applicable mortgage servicing rules.
• Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements into practical documents.
• Strong research, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-house legal and regulatory guidance for mortgage servicing/origination.
• Draft contracts, policies, and product forms to ensure compliance.
• Research federal/state laws and investor requirements for servicing documents.
• Review and maintain servicing documents and borrower communications.
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on processes and systems.
• Collaborate with operations, product, technology, and compliance teams.
• Work with clients' legal contacts to resolve servicing-related questions.
