Job summary

First American seeks an Associate Operations Counsel to provide in-house legal and regulatory guidance related to mortgage servicing and origination, focusing on document requirements and compliance. You will draft contracts, policies, and product forms while advising operational teams.

You will research federal and state mortgage servicing laws, monitor regulatory changes, and collaborate with internal teams to implement updates and ensure accuracy across documents and processes.

Qualifications

• Law degree required and licensed to practice in the US.
• Typically 1–3 years of professional experience in mortgage servicing law.
• Experience with Regulation X (RESPA) and Regulation Z (TILA) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on mortgage servicing document requirements and regulatory compliance.
• Research and interpret federal and state mortgage servicing laws for compliance.
• Draft and maintain mortgage servicing documents, contracts, policies, and forms.
• Collaborate with operations, product, technology, and compliance teams to implement regulatory changes.
