First American is seeking an Associate Operations Counsel to provide in-house legal and regulatory guidance related to mortgage servicing and origination. You will draft, review, and maintain mortgage servicing documents, ensure regulatory compliance, and support product and technology teams across divisions.

The role requires a law degree, US admission to practice, and 1–3 years of relevant experience with mortgage servicing regulations.

Qualifikationen

  • Law degree required.
  • Admitted to practice law in the US.
  • Typically 1–3 years of professional experience in the area of specialization.
  • Licensed to practice law, in good standing.
  • Direct experience with residential mortgage servicing regulations, compliance, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with Regulation X (RESPA) and Regulation Z (TILA).
  • Experience researching, reviewing, or developing mortgage servicing documents and borrower communications.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical documentation and processes.

Aufgaben

  • Provide timely and effective legal support to divisions while minimizing legal exposure and risk.
  • Offer practical, high-quality legal counsel focused on mortgage servicing documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Research federal and state mortgage servicing laws to ensure documents and processes remain compliant.
  • Review and maintain mortgage servicing documents and forms for accuracy and regulatory alignment.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and evaluate their impact on documents and processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address servicing documentation questions and support product enhancements.
  • Research and resolve mortgage servicing questions with clients' legal and compliance contacts.
