Job summary

First American is seeking an Associate Operations Counsel to provide in-house legal support on mortgage servicing documentation and regulatory compliance. You will draft, review, and maintain mortgage servicing documents and forms, ensuring they meet investor requirements and applicable law.

You will partner with operations, product, technology, and compliance teams, research federal and state mortgage servicing laws, and translate complex regulations into practical documentation and workflows.

Qualifications

  • Law degree required and admission to practice in the US.
  • Experience with residential mortgage servicing regulations and documentation.
  • Strong research, writing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support to mortgage servicing teams and minimize risk.
  • Research federal/state mortgage servicing laws and investor requirements.
  • Draft and maintain mortgage servicing documents and forms.
  • Collaborate with operations, product, tech and compliance.
  • Communicate regulatory changes and implement them in processes.
