Job summary

First American is seeking an Associate Operations Counsel to provide in-house legal and regulatory advice on mortgage servicing and origination. You will draft contracts, policies, and forms while ensuring compliance with REG X, Z, and investor requirements, and you will interpret complex regulations for practical application.

You will collaborate with operations, product, technology, and compliance teams to address servicing questions and support regulatory changes.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree and active US bar admission required.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage servicing regulations and documentation.
  • Ability to interpret complex rules and translate into practical forms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-house legal and regulatory advice for mortgage servicing and origination.
  • Draft contracts, policies, and product forms; ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Research federal/state mortgage laws and investor requirements.
  • Review and maintain mortgage servicing documents and communications.
  • Collaborate with operations, product, tech, and compliance teams.
  • Research and resolve servicing questions with clients' contacts.
