Job summary

Generator Supercenter of Chicagoland in Wheeling, IL seeks a Generator Sales Representative to drive residential and light commercial generator sales and deliver tailored proposals. You will educate homeowners on the value of Generac systems and lead the sales process from prospecting to close.

• Prospect, qualify, and close new residential and light commercial generator sales

• Conduct site evaluations and gather technical data for proposal generation
• Prepare and present professional, tailored proposals to potential customers
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and permitting teams to ensure a smooth handoff from sale to installation
• Maintain CRM records, track leads, and report progress to management
• Consistently meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets
• Develop builder network for new home sales
• Attend and represent at various home shows, trade shows, and local events

Job description

Typical total earnings are approximately $75,000–$120,000+ annually, depending on performance. Compensation: $45,000–$65,000 base salary + commission/bonus plan.

Position Overview

As a Generator Sales Representative, you will be responsible for generating new business, conducting on-site assessments, delivering customized proposals, and guiding clients through the backup power purchasing process. You will play a key role in expanding our residential power solution and brand across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

• 3+ years of proven experience in a sales enivonment.
• Bonus for experience in field sales, home services or solar, energy storage, or renewable energy solutions
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and closing skills
• Comfortable conducting in-home consultations and site assessments
• Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently
• Proficient with CRM platforms and sales proposal tools
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Studies, or related field (preferred)
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for client appointments

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with electrical systems, power generation, etc..
• Familiarity with sales platforms
• NEC certification or equivalent industry training a plus
