Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve pet families across North Carolina. Join a doctor-led, privately held practice that champions autonomy, compassionate end-of-life care, and a no non-compete policy.

As an In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarian, you will provide compassionate, individualized care to pets in their homes, travel between visits, and support families through difficult conversations with clinical judgment and empathy.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and active US license
• Valid US driver’s license and ability to travel between home visits
• Ability to work independently in mobile veterinary care
• Comfort handling various home environments and pets
• Excellent communication during sensitive end-of-life discussions

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, and compassionate euthanasia services
• Independently travel to scheduled appointments in assigned service area
• Perform exams, medications, sedation, euthanasia, and clinical documentation
• Educate families on quality-of-life decisions and care options
• Maintain accurate veterinary records and coordinate with Heartstrings team
• Safely handle and position animals during home visits
• Demonstrate professionalism and strong medical judgment in the field
• Support families with compassionate, empathetic communication
