Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve pet families across Charlotte, Huntersville, Mt. Holly and Pineville in North Carolina. Join a privately held, doctor-led practice with flexible scheduling and no non-compete.

Our veterinarians provide in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and compassionate euthanasia services, enabling meaningful family moments in the comfort of home.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or equivalent veterinary degree from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be provided.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel between in-home appointments.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, pain and symptom management, and compassionate euthanasia services within your assigned service area.
• Independently travel to scheduled appointments and work in a mobile veterinary care environment outside a traditional clinic.
• Perform physical exams, clinical assessments, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and other services within regulatory scope.
• Educate families on quality-of-life decisions, end-of-life options, euthanasia process, and aftercare considerations.
• Maintain accurate veterinary medical records and documentation for each encounter.
• Communicate professionally with families, the Heartstrings team, scheduling, and referring veterinarians.
• Safely handle and move companion animals during in-home visits.
• Maintain professionalism and autonomy while working in the field.
