Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve families across Chandler & Gilbert, Arizona. This role offers autonomy, meaningful patient conversations, and the chance to practice compassionate end-of-life care in the home.

You will provide in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and compassionate euthanasia, traveling between appointments with a mobile veterinary team and maintaining thorough records.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in the state(s) where services are provided.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to travel between appointments.
• Ability to work independently as a mobile veterinarian.
• Empathy and professionalism in sensitive conversations.
• Weekend rotation availability.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with weights up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to perform in-home exams and medical procedures.
• Background and motor vehicle record checks as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and euthanasia services.
• Travel to scheduled appointments in a mobile veterinary setting.
• Perform physical examinations, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and related services.
• Guide families through end-of-life decisions with empathy and clear communication.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each encounter.
• Communicate professionally with families and Heartstrings teams.
• Safely handle and assist with movement of companion animals during visits.
• Maintain professionalism and clinical independence in the field.
• Demonstrate Heartstrings' Compassion. Dignity. Respect in all interactions.
