Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve pet families throughout Toledo, Sylvania & Perrysburg, Ohio and surrounding areas. This role offers the autonomy to practice compassionate end-of-life veterinary care in the comfort of the pet’s home, away from traditional clinics.

The ideal candidate has a DVM or equivalent, a valid U.S. driver’s license for frequent travel, and excels in empathetic communication and clinical judgment to support families

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in the applicable state or eligibility.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel between appointments.
• Comfortable working independently as a mobile veterinarian.
• Demonstrated empathy and professionalism during sensitive hospice conversations.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, and euthanasia services within your service area.
• Travel independently to scheduled in-home appointments in a mobile veterinary setting.
• Perform physical examinations, assessments, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and related services.
• Guide families through quality-of-life decisions and end-of-life options with empathy.
• Maintain accurate medical records for each patient encounter and coordinate with Heartstrings teams.
