Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking compassionate veterinarians to provide in-home hospice, palliative care, and humane euthanasia across Toledo, Sylvania, Perrysburgh, and surrounding areas. This role offers autonomy, meaningful family interactions, and the chance to practice end-of-life care with empathy in clients' homes.

Ideal candidates are licensed DVMs who can travel independently, communicate with families during difficult moments, and commit to weekend scheduling as needed.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be provided.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to travel between appointments.
• Comfortable working independently as a mobile veterinarian.
• Strong empathy and professionalism during sensitive conversations.
• Availability for rotational weekend scheduling.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and assist with up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to work in various residential environments.
• Successful completion of applicable background and motor vehicle record checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, QoL support, and humane euthanasia.
• Travel to scheduled appointments in a mobile care setting.
• Perform exams, assessments, medications, sedation, euthanasia per regulations.
• Educate families on QoL decisions and end-of-life options.
• Maintain accurate medical records for each encounter.
• Communicate professionally with families and medical team.
• Safely handle and assist with movement of animals during visits.
• Maintain professionalism and clinical independence.
• Demonstrate Heartstrings' Compassion. Dignity. Respect. in interactions.
