Job summary

Paylocity is seeking an Import & Export Representative in Greer, SC to join our customs brokerage and freight forwarding team. You will manage importing and exporting processes, communicate with clients and authorities, and ensure timely, compliant clearance and invoicing.

The role requires knowledge of import procedures, export controls, EEI filings, and coordinating carrier bookings to keep cargo moving and compliant.

Qualifications

As an Import & Export Representative, you will be a vital part of our customs brokerage and freight forwarding team, responsible for managing and overseeing the importing process, exporting process, and invoicing for our clients. Your role will involve communication with clients, customs authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure the timely and compliant clearance of imported goods. This position also facilitates export transactions for our clients, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations. You will need an understanding of import procedures, freight forwarding export process, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to solve import and export-related challenges.

Requirements

1. Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, building, and maintaining strong relationships. Understand clients' needs and provide tailored import and export solutions.
2. Import Documentation: Review import documentation, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and certificates of origin, ensuring accuracy and compliance with customs regulations.
3. Customs Clearance: Oversee the customs clearance process, ensuring that all imported goods are cleared efficiently and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
4. Billing: Responsible for properly billing clients, agents, and vetting payments to vendors according to company policy.
5. Compliance Assurance: A general awareness of customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements.
6. Export Documentation: Prepare, review, and process export documentation. Create export bills of lading with necessary documentation and send them to appropriate parties.
7. Invoicing: Responsible for properly billing clients and vetting payments to vendors according to company policy.
8. Export Compliance: Ensure that all export transactions adhere to relevant international and domestic regulations, including export controls, sanctions, and licensing requirements.
9. Export Bookings: Create bookings and ensure cargo is moving timely to meet all export cutoffs. Understand the routing of freight. Correspond directly with carriers to make the booking and ensure accuracy of the confirmed booking.
10. Dispatch: Coordinating trucking movements as needed.
11. Shipping Instructions: Submit EEI (electronic export information) filings, complete and send shipping instructions to carriers.
12. Problem Resolution: Ability to address import/export-related challenges, such as customs delays, document discrepancies, or issues with transportation providers.
13. Communication: Effectively communicate with clients, customs authorities, and third-party service providers to facilitate the import process, resolve issues, and provide status updates.
14. Reporting: Generate and maintain import-related shipment notes for the client.
15. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with customs brokers, import support specialists, and other team members to ensure the smooth flow of import operations.
16. Development: Contribute to knowledge sharing by training team members and developing, maintaining, and improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
