Job summary

Under supervision of the Supervisor of Special Education, you will provide instructional, social-emotional, and behavioral support, participate in IEP meetings, collaborate with general education staff, and maintain required documentation.

Qualifications

• Must meet health, physical and background check requirements.
• Must hold Tennessee teacher's license with endorsement in #460, #461, or #105.
• Experience working with students with disabilities.
• Knowledge of Federal and State regulations regarding assessment, identification, placement, and provision of services to eligible students with disabilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of people.
• Strong written and verbal presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional, social-emotional, behavioral support to eligible students with disabilities as specified in each student's IEP.
• Attend IEP-Team meetings and assist in determining eligibility and developing IEPs.
• Consult with general education teachers on accommodations and strategies for students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with the Behavior Interventionist, school counselor, social worker and other staff on behavior and social development strategies.
• Conduct required student assessments to determine eligibility and appropriate placement.
• Administer data gathering assessments to guide instruction and discuss data with staff/parents.
• Develop and maintain student IEPs, Behavior Intervention Plans, and related documentation.
• Manage day-to-day classroom operations.
• Plan curriculum and lessons considering individual student needs and abilities.
• Maintain a disciplined classroom conducive to learning.
• Participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities.
• Maintain licensure and endorsements through ongoing professional development.
