Murfreesboro City Schools is seeking a Comprehensive Development Teacher for the Special Education Department. The ideal candidate will hold a Tennessee teaching license with the necessary endorsements, have a B.S.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Tennessee teaching license with endorsements.
• Experience working with students with disabilities.
• Knowledge of applicable Federal and State regulations regarding assessment, identification, and services.
• Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
• License endorsement for services to children pre-school through sixth grade in the specialty area.
• Bachelor's degree in Special Education.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to learn occupational hazards and apply universal precautions.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional and/or consultative services to eligible students with disabilities as per each IEP.
• Attend IEP-Team meetings to help determine eligibility and develop IEPs.
• Consult with general education teachers on accommodations for students with disabilities.
• Conduct required student assessments to determine eligibility for services.
• Administer data gathering assessments to guide instruction on deficits.
• Develop and maintain student IEPs and required paperwork.
• Manage day-to-day classroom operations.
• Plan curriculum and lessons considering individual student needs.
• Maintain a disciplined classroom and supportive learning climate.
• Participate in meetings and professional development activities.
• Maintain licensure and endorsements through ongoing professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
