Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine seeks a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room for a full-time, variable hours role. The candidate will assist with preoperative patient preparation, assemble instruments, scrub on basic procedures, and ensure the sterile field is maintained throughout surgeries.

Responsibilities include OR turnover, equipment testing, restocking, and participating in in-service programs to enhance patient care.

Qualifications

• Completion of a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists.
• Must hold and maintain a Certified Surgical Technologist credential.
• Experience preferred in acute care surgical settings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the patient for surgery and assist with positioning.
• Assemble equipment, supplies, sutures and instruments for each procedure.
• Scrub on basic level procedures and maintain a sterile field.
• Assist in cleaning, restocking and reconfiguring the OR between procedures.
• Report equipment problems and assist in preparation of equipment for procedures.
