Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine seeks a TH CTS Operating Room Associate/Surgical Technologist to assist with preoperative patient preparation, equipment setup, and maintaining the sterile field during procedures in an ambulatory surgical setting.

Applicants must complete an accredited Surgical Technology program and hold a certified CST credential; preferred are acute care surgical tech with orthopedic and ophthalmology scrub experience.

Qualifications

• Required: completion of a nationally accredited surgical technologist program and a certified surgical technologist credential.

Responsibilities

• Cares for the surgical patient in ambulatory operating room settings.
• Assembles equipment, supplies, sutures and instruments for procedures.
• Scrubs basic and complex procedures to maintain the surgical field.
• Assists in OR cleaning, restocking and reconfiguring the room between cases.
• Tests equipment operation and reports malfunctions to supervisor.
• Attends in-service programs and participates in performance improvements.
