Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a TH CTS Operating Room Associate/Surgical Technologist to support preoperative preparation and patient positioning for assigned surgeries. The role emphasizes exceptional patient care and communication within a high-standard environment.

The candidate must have a nationally accredited surgical technology program and CST credential (or equivalent military training) and may show prior hospital experience or military service as alternative credentials.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists and holds a certified surgical technologist credential.
• OR completion of an appropriate training program in the US Armed Forces.
• Or evidence of prior employment as a surgical technologist within the four years prior to 2015.

Responsibilities

• Cares for the surgical patient in an ambulatory operating room setting.
• Assembles equipment, supplies, sutures and instruments for each procedure.
• Scrubs on basic and complex procedures ensuring the surgical field is maintained.
• Assists in cleaning, restocking and reconfiguring the OR between procedures.
