Job summary

MercyOne is seeking a Medical Assistant at our Des Moines, IA clinic. The role involves rooming patients, taking vitals, assisting with procedures and immunizations, and maintaining electronic medical records under provider supervision.

The ideal candidate will have completed an accredited MA program, and be CMA or RMA certified within the first year, with preferred clinic experience and BLS. This position requires on-site work in Des Moines and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Completion of a medical assistant program accredited by CAAHP/ABHES.
• CMA or RMA certification to be obtained within first year of employment.
• Clinic/physician office experience preferred.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider certification or obtained within 3 months.
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ability to recognize urgent/emergent needs and initiate procedures.
• Assists with procedures, exams and operation of diagnostic equipment as assigned.
• Documents all patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Maintains aseptic technique and prepares/dispenses medications as directed.
• Communicates with patients and health care team about treatment plans and results.
