Job summary

Akron-Summit County Public Library in Akron, OH seeks a Public Services Assistant II to greet customers, help select materials, and answer reference questions. You’ll assist with Library technology, databases, and policy explanations, while maintaining stock and performing routine circulation tasks.

Required: High school diploma with some college or an Associate’s degree; strong customer service and typing skills; ability to lift light objects and operate library systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework or Associate’s degree.
• Knowledge of library materials, programs, and services.
• Ability to use a computer and library software; pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers in a friendly and accessible manner.
• Assists customers in selecting and using Library materials.
• Answers varied reference questions and directs to additional resources as needed.
• Helps customers use Library technology and databases, offering instruction.
• Interprets Library policies in a customer-responsive manner.
• Performs clerical duties and maintains supplies.
• Handles circulation, delivery, and service desk coverage.
