Job summary

Amedisys, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Per Diem Occupational Therapy Assistant to deliver skilled home-based therapy under the supervision of an occupational therapist. You will implement individualized plans, document outcomes, and support patient independence in daily living activities.

The role emphasizes patient-centered care, safety, and collaboration with the care team; eligibility for NBCOT, state licensure, and CPR are required. Per diem hours vary by patient needs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ACOTE-accredited OTA program.
• Current state license to practice as OTA.
• Eligible for NBCOT certification examination.
• CPR certification current.
• At least 1 year of OTA experience recommended.
• If under 1 year, regional mentoring or residency may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled OT interventions under supervision of an OT.
• Document each visit per AOTA guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Observe and report patient responses and changes to the supervising OT.
• Provide patient/caregiver resources for future ADL/IADL needs.
• Promote wellness and engagement in daily activities.
• Identify community resources and services for patients.
• Recommend follow-up care with the admitting care center.
• Stay updated on OT trends and best practices.
