Spectrum 360 A NJ Non Profit Corp. seeks an Assistant Teacher to support Head Start services in New Jersey.

The role involves helping the classroom teacher plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities, observing and documenting children's progress, and assisting with administrative tasks and family engagement. The position requires a CDA or enrollment in a CDA program (or coursework toward a degree), a high school diploma or GED, and daily access to a car.

Qualifications

• Must have a CDA or enroll immediately in CDA program or coursework toward an associate or bachelor degree.
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have a car available on a daily basis.
• Must be able to read and write sufficiently to maintain proper records.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in planning and implementing educational activities in the classroom and interact with children in a developmentally appropriate manner.
• Assist the Teacher in observing, screening, assessing, and documenting children's growth and development; document observations.
• Assist in carrying out administrative duties as delegated by the teacher.
• Assume Teacher responsibilities in the absence of the Teacher.
• Prepare and maintain records or reports, including attendance and in-kind records.
• Attend weekly Center staff meetings and trainings/workshops.
• Encourage and coordinate parent and volunteer involvement; assist with home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
• Perform any other Head Start task as delegated by Teacher or management.
