Job summary

Spectrum 360 A NJ Non Profit Corp. seeks an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to support Head Start classrooms.

You will aid in planning educational activities, observe child development, and assist with administrative duties under the supervision of the Head Teacher. Qualified candidates must have a CDA or be enrolled in the CDA program, possess a HS diploma or GED, and have a car available daily for transportation and meetings.

Qualifications

• Reads and writes to maintain accurate records
• Demonstrates basic classroom communication with children

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in planning and implementing educational activities in the classroom and interact with children in a developmentally appropriate manner.
• Assist the Teacher in observing, screening, assessing, and documenting children's growth and development. Document observations and individual activities in blue books.
• Assist in carrying out administrative duties as delegated by the teacher.
• Assume Teacher responsibilities in the absence of the Teacher.
• Prepare and maintain appropriate records or reports, including daily attendance and in-kind records.
• Participate in weekly Center staff meetings and attend training/workshops.
• Encourage and coordinate parent and volunteer involvement, accompany Home Visits and Parent/Teacher conferences, coordinate classroom volunteer program.
• Any other Head Start task as delegated by Teacher or management
