Job summary

Spectrum 360 A NJ Non Profit Corp. seeks an Assistant Teacher to support the Head Start classroom in alignment with New Jersey licensing standards. You will assist the teacher with planning activities, interact with children, and help document developmental progress.

You will participate in meetings, coordinate parent and volunteer involvement, and help manage attendance and in-kind records. A CDA or progress toward one plus a high school diploma is required, with daily car access.

Qualifications

• Must have a CDA or enroll in CDA program or in early childhood coursework leading toward an associate or bachelor degree.
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have a car available on a daily basis.
• Must be able to read and write sufficiently to maintain proper records.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in planning and implementing educational activities in the classroom and interact with children in a developmentally appropriate manner.
• Assist the Teacher in observing, screening, assessing, and documenting children's growth and development.
• Assist in carrying out administrative duties as delegated by the teacher.
• Assume Teacher responsibilities in the absence of the Teacher.
• Prepare and maintain appropriate records or reports, including daily attendance and in-kind records, submitted monthly.
• Participate in weekly Center staff meetings and attend trainings/workshops.
• Encourage and coordinate parent and volunteer involvement, accompany Home Visits and conferences, and coordinate classroom volunteers.
• Perform any other Head Start tasks delegated by Teacher or management.
