Job summary

Spectrum 360 A NJ Non Profit Corp. is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Head Start program in New Jersey.

The role assists the Head Start teaching team with planning educational activities and interacting with children in a developmentally appropriate manner. Ideal candidates hold a CDA or are enrolled in CDA/early childhood coursework and have a High School Diploma or GED, plus daily access to a car.

Qualifications

• Must have a CDA or enroll immediately in CDA program or immediately enroll in early childhood coursework leading to an associate or bachelor degree.
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have a car available on a daily basis.
• Must be able to read and write sufficiently to maintain proper records

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in planning and implementing educational activities in the classroom and interact with children in a developmentally appropriate manner.
• Assist the Teacher in observing, screening, assessing, and documenting children's growth and development.
• Assist in carrying out administrative duties as delegated by the teacher.
• Assume Teacher responsibilities in the absence of the Teacher.
• Prepare and maintain appropriate records or reports, including daily attendance and in-kind records.
• Participate in weekly Center staff meetings and attend trainings/workshops.
• Encourage and coordinate parent and volunteer involvement and participate in Home Visits and Parent/Teacher conferences.
• Perform any other Head Start tasks as delegated by Teacher or management.

Education

Child Development Associate (CDA)
