Job summary

CCDOC is seeking a Disaster Case Manager to work directly with individuals and families affected by natural disasters, assessing needs, connecting them to resources, and guiding them through the recovery process as the primary contact for ensuring access to necessary assistance.

The position is limited duration and requires strong intake, advocacy, and coordination with agencies such as FEMA, housing programs, and food resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred; additional experience beyond the required may be accepted in lieu of a college degree.
• Intermediate computer and technology skills.
• Ability to plan and organize; work and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, clientele, and the public; promote Agency programs and provide public relations.
• Fluency in English (reading, writing and speaking); Proficiency in Spanish may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts intake interviews and assesses needs of program participants; provides advocacy support and liaison to community social services agencies; advises participants or makes referrals as appropriate.
• Connects individuals with appropriate recovery programs, services, and community organizations based on assessed needs (FEMA, housing grants, food banks, mental health support).
• Verifies eligibility for disaster relief programs and assists with application processes.
• Collaborates with disaster response organizations, government agencies, and community partners for coordinated service delivery.
• Provides ongoing case coordination; develops case plans and financial plans; may conduct home visits and supervise others as assigned.
• Completes reports and maintains required documentation; keeps current all program participants’ records.
• Maintains relationships with staff and external resources to coordinate services and advocacy.
• Develops collaborations with schools, parishes, community networks, and other partners.
• Participates in agency trainings, staff meetings, and events.
• Represents the program and Agency in the community; responds to inquiries and makes presentations.
• Participates in Strategic Planning and Quality Improvement processes.
• Develops and coordinates enrichment opportunities and events for program participants.
