Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a CWS Case Manager in Columbia to perform case management in child welfare investigations and coordinate safety planning for at-risk children and families.

You will engage families and partners with empathy, maintain records in CAPSS, and participate in required training to sustain child welfare certification. On-call duties and collaboration are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science; or a related field with 1 year of experience.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Performs case management in the Child Welfare Investigations area, including initial investigations of reports of child abuse and neglect.
• Assists with transportation, support, and supervision of youth experiencing placement instability.
• Maintains physical and electronic case records per DSS policy in CAPSS.
• Engages families and partners with empathy and responds to communications (calls, emails, texts).
• Maintains child welfare certification with 20 hours of training yearly.
• Recommends intervention services and documents referrals on the Family Permanency Plan.
