Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a CWS Case Manager to perform case management in the Child Welfare Investigations area, aligned with DSS Policy, Mission and GPS Practice Model.

Responsibilities include conducting timely initial investigations of abuse/neglect, offering services to affected children and families, and implementing safety plans. You will collaborate with law enforcement, prepare legal packets when needed, and maintain accurate records in CAPSS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in any other field combined with at least 1 year of related experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs case management in the Child Welfare Investigations area per DSS policy and GPS Practice Model.
• Conducts timely initial investigations of child abuse/neglect and offers services to at-risk children and families.
• Engages families and professionals with empathy, collaborating with law enforcement and legal when safety concerns arise.
• Maintains thorough documentation and case records per DSS policy and CAPSS requirements.
• Participates in CFT meetings and ensures youth and families have a voice in the process.
• Provides referrals for intervention services based on safety assessments and Family Permanency Plans.
• Maintains child welfare certification and completes required yearly training.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science
