Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a CWS Case Manager - Investigations to perform timely initial investigations of child abuse and neglect and to offer services to families at risk. You will conduct safety assessments, develop safety plans, and collaborate with law enforcement as needed.

The role emphasizes empathetic engagement with families, timely responses to inquiries, and coordination with internal teams to ensure safety and permanency for children.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science required.
• Bachelor's Degree in any field with one year related experience acceptable.
• Master's Degree may substitute for required work experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs case management in child welfare investigations per DSS policy and GPS Practice Model.
• Conducts timely initial investigations of child abuse/neglect and provides services to families.
• Engages families and professionals with empathy; coordinates with law enforcement when safety concerns exist.
• Locates and engages absent parents, relatives and kin to join the child and family team.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science
