Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a CWS Case Manager – Investigations in the Child Welfare Services division. You will perform timely initial investigations of reports of child abuse and neglect, conduct safety assessments using FAST, and respond to intakes within required timeframes.

You will authentically engage families and professionals, collaborate with law enforcement, and maintain thorough case documentation.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in any other field and one year experience in a related field.
• A Master’s Degree or higher may be substituted for required work experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs case management in Investigations per DSS Policy and GPS Practice Model.
• Conducts timely initial investigations of child abuse/neglect and offers services to children and families at risk.
• Responds to intakes within identified timeframes to conduct initial safety assessments using FAST.
• Engages families and professionals with empathy; collaborates with law enforcement and legal when safety concerns exist.
• Locates and engages absent parents, relatives, and kin to support the child and family team.
• Recommends intervention services and documents on the Family Permanency Plan.
• Maintains case records in CAPSS; ensures documentation meets DSS policy and quality standards.
• Maintains child welfare certification; completes 20 hours of training yearly.
• Protects PII and agency networks; performs shelter duties as directed.
• Other duties as assigned.
