Job summary

South Carolina Department of Social Services seeks a CWS Case Manager – Investigations to conduct initial safety assessments, respond to intakes, and develop safety plans. You will authentically engage families and coordinate with law enforcement and the legal system when safety concerns are present.

The role emphasizes documenting actions in CAPSS per policy and maintaining ongoing case records while pursuing required certifications and completing 20 hours of annual training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science.
• A Master's Degree or higher may be substituted for required work experience.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Conduct timely initial investigations of reports of child abuse and neglect.
• Respond to assigned intakes within identified time frames to conduct initial safety assessments.
• Engage families and professionals with empathy; collaborate with law enforcement and legal when safety concerns are present.
• Locate and engage absent parents, relatives and fictive kin to support the child and family team.
• Recommends intervention services to strengthen families and documents on the Family Permanency Plan.
• Maintain case records per DSS policy and GPS Practice Model in CAPSS.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work

Master's Degree or higher may be substituted for required work experience
