Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks a Class Size Teacher Assistant to support classrooms facing oversized cohorts. Working under a principal and a licensed teacher, you will help supervise students, assist with instructional tasks, and support school operations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of proper English grammar and spelling.
• Ability to work with and for school-aged children.
• Good oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during lunchroom and playground activities.
• Provide security functions, monitor corridors, and review student IDs.
• Assist students with understanding and completing classroom assignments.
• Assist teachers with bulletin boards and displaying student work.
• Operate basic office equipment and photocopy materials.
• Keep classrooms organized and orderly.
• Greet and direct visitors to appropriate areas of the school.
• Consult with teachers regarding student concerns.
• Operate audiovisual equipment used in lessons.
• Provide tutoring under teacher supervision.
• Assist in collecting and grading homework and exams.
• Assist in loading/unloading students on buses.
• Assist in processing receipts and securing new books.
• Collect absentee reports and contact parents/guardians.
• May assist in wraps and toilet duties.
• May assist with selling public transportation passes to students.
