Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks a Class Size Teacher Assistant to support instruction in Priority Schools. Under the supervision of a licensed teacher, you will assist in classroom activities, supervise students, and help with instructional materials and administrative tasks.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and a valid ISBE paraprofessional license (60 college hours or Work Keys/ParaPro). The role involves light physical duties and occasional after-school duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid TASN (NCLB) paraprofessional license from ISBE required; may be obtained after 60 college hours.
• Work Keys or ParaPro certification may be required or pursued.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervision of students during lunchroom and playground.
• Provide security functions within the school and monitor corridors; check IDs.
• Assist students with understanding and completing assignments; support teachers in preparing displays.
• Operate audiovisual equipment and educational materials replication equipment.
• Provide tutoring services under teacher supervision.
• Assist in collecting and grading homework and examinations.
• Assist in loading/unloading students on buses and handling books processing.
